Why We Refuse to Fake Content for the Card Database
When we designed individual reference pages for all 1,000 cards, the template asked for sections like 'Evolution' and 'Fusion' โ systems Tycoon Cards doesn't actually have. Here's the decision we made instead.
The problem
When we scoped out the individual card reference pages at /cards/[id], the requested template included sections for card Evolution and card Fusion โ the idea being that duplicate cards might one day transform into something new, or combine across different cards entirely.
The trouble is simple: neither system exists in Tycoon Cards today. Cards only ever level up through the duplicate-combine mechanic โ spend spare copies of the exact same card to raise its level. There's no evolution tree, no cross-card fusion recipe, nothing to screenshot or describe truthfully.
The tempting shortcut
It would have been easy to write a paragraph of plausible-sounding fiction for each section โ "combine three Rare cards of the same category to fuse a new Epic variant" or similar โ and nobody browsing a single card page would necessarily know it wasn't real. At scale (1,000 pages), that's exactly the kind of shortcut that quietly erodes trust once a player actually tries it and it doesn't work.
What we did instead
Every card page keeps both sections, but each states plainly that the system doesn't exist yet, and links directly to our public roadmap โ the same place we track "Card evolution system" and "Card fusion system" as items in active research. If a player wants to verify that claim, they can click straight through and see it themselves.
This became a template-wide rule we now apply everywhere: the Business Encyclopedia's "Research Interactions" section and the Collection Hub's Seasonal/Event collection stubs all follow the exact same pattern.
Why it matters
A reference database is only useful if it's trustworthy. The moment one fabricated mechanic is discovered, a player has to start wondering what else on the page might not be real โ the actual, verified numbers (cost curves, drop rates, combine costs) lose credibility by association. Being upfront about what doesn't exist yet protects the credibility of everything that does.
Developer Commentary
๐๏ธ From the team:This decision shaped everything that came after it โ the Business Encyclopedia and Collection Hub both inherited the same honesty policy. We'd rather ship a slightly less flashy page than one that misleads a player about what the game can do.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this mean some card pages have missing sections?
+
Does this mean some card pages have missing sections?
+No โ every section still exists on every page. Sections describing unbuilt systems simply state that plainly and link to our public roadmap, rather than being left blank or filled with fiction.
Will these sections be rewritten if Evolution or Fusion ship in future?

Will these sections be rewritten if Evolution or Fusion ship in future?
+Yes. The moment either system goes live, the corresponding sections across all 1,000 card pages will be updated to describe the real mechanic.
